How often will modules run?
At this stage modules in the Business Advantage program will only run once per semester (unless specified). If you are unable to participate in a module due to a timetable clash or the maximum participant numbers have been reached we will add your name to the wait list and advise you of the next available offering of the module.
I’m a part-time student but I can’t attend modules during the day. What can I do?
As the program expands, more modules will be offered which will cater specifically for part-time and postgraduate student needs. Some programs may be offered at night, or on weekends.
I’m a student at Carseldine (or Caboolture) Campus – can I still participate in the program?
Yes, Business students based at other QUT campuses can participate in the program, but you may need to travel to Gardens Point to attend the modules. As the program expands, modules and activities will be offered on other campuses.
How much does it cost?
The Business Advantage Program is aimed primarily as a cost-free activity to students. There may be one-off or specific activities which involve external or out-of-hours scheduling and these may attract a small fee to assist with running costs. Participants will be advised well in advance if any costs are associated with an activity.
Can I use the modules as credit towards my degree?
No. The modules offered through the Business Advantage Program are purely for personal development and cannot be used as credit towards any component of the Business degree.
Will the modules appear on my academic transcript?
We are currently investigating the possibility of having Business Advantage modules listed on student academic transcripts. All participants who satisfactorily complete individual modules will receive a certificate of completion from the Faculty.
I have a suggestion for a module, who do I send it to?
The Business Advantage program aims to provide a diverse suite of activities to students. As such we welcome any suggestions, ideas and feedback you may have for modules or the program in general. Please send your comments to the Program Coordinator at bus.advantage@qut.edu.au.
Will I receive additional recognition for completing a large number of Business Advantage modules?
We are keen to support students who participate regularly in the program. Some of the opportunities we are hoping to offer to regular participants include guaranteed places in other Business Advantage activities; involvement in working groups developing modules and activities; co-facilitating some programs; acting as mentors for other participants; invitations to internal and external events, seminars and networking activities. Keep on eye out for more information on these opportunities as the program develops.
Do I need to attend all the sessions in a module to receive a certificate of completion?
Yes, in most cases you will be required to complete all the activities which
form a module before a certificate of completion will be provided. The Business
Advantage programs have been developed to meet specific learning objectives,
so it is necessary that participants complete all the activities in order to
gain the maximum benefit from the program. If you are unable to complete a module
please contact the Program Coordinator to discuss your situation.
Do you have a question not answered above? Please send it to us at bus.advantage@qut.edu.au
