Mark Lyons
Adjunct Professor of Social Economy, School of Management, University of Technology Sydney
Mark Lyons is Adjunct Professor of Social Economy in the School of Management at the University of Technology, Sydney. He recently retired after 30 years at UTS. He has a PhD from the Australian National University.
Since 1990, in over 100 publications and conference papers, he has pioneered the study of nonprofit organisations and philanthropy in Australia. He has been a director of several nonprofit organisations and a member of several government advisory committees. Between 1986 and 1989, he was executive director of ACOSS. His book Third Sector: the Contribution of Nonprofit and Cooperative Enterprises in Australia was published by Allen & Unwin in 2001. Still in print, it remains the only comprehensive overview to the sector in Australia.
David Thompson
Chair, National Roundtable of Nonprofit Organisations; CEO, Jobs Australia Limited
David Thompson is CEO of Jobs Australia Limited, a national peak organisation for more than 250 non-profit providers of employment and related services for unemployed and is a founding Board member and current Director of the National Employment Services Association Limited.
David is also Chair of the National Roundtable of Nonprofit Organisations Limited, Deputy President and Executive member of the Australian Council of Social Service, Chair, Jobs Australia Foundation, Chair, COMMACT International and President of its Australian Chapter, Chair of Community 21 Limited, Director of Community Sector Enterprises Pty Ltd and Director, Beyond Empathy Limited. David is also a member of the Board of the Intercontinental Network for the Promotion of the Social Solidarity Economy.
Dr Harry Zaphir
Executive-in-Residence, Faculty of Business, Queensland University of Technology
Dr Harry Zaphir is a professional company director, speaker and author who has over 20 years experience in building businesses, both his own and other peoples', by attracting, managing and retaining talented individuals, or as he calls them Bright Young Things.
A Graduate of the University of Queensland, Harry also undertook post-graduate studies in both IT management and business management, finishing up with a PhD in the latter. He is a Fellow of the Australian Institute of Company Directors, a Fellow of the Australasian Mutuals Institute and Associate Fellow of the Australian Institute of Management.
