QUT Blueprint
The QUT Blueprint details the University’s ambitions and priorities. In relation to Equity, QUT acknowledges the benefits of a diverse student population and also the University’s obligation to ensure that such benefits are available and accessible to people regardless of background or circumstance. Thus we need to maintain and renew efforts to enable participation by students from low socio-economic backgrounds, Indigenous students, students from rural and regional areas, and women in certain areas of study. In several of these areas, accessibility is below standard, and the prospect of increasing financial burdens on students will make renewed attention to issues of access and equity essential.
Our success depends heavily on the specialised knowledge on skills of staff. We should develop QUT as a place which is inclusive, which values the diversity of its staff and students, and which encourages and promotes scholarship and intellectual debate.
