Career Summary

Dr John Chen joined the School of Economics and Finance in February 2005. He completed his doctoral thesis entitled, "To Invest or not to Invest? Theory and Evidence on Stock Holdings over the Life Cycle".He completed this at the University of Melbourne where he also worked in the Department of Finance. One of his PhDpapers entitled "Why do so few hold stocks: theory and evidence" won the best paper award in the International Conference on Finance. John currently teaches at both the undergraduate and postgraduate level in our School.

Research Interests

  • Current interests include household portfolios and home equity bias
