The Faculty of Business has a long history of engagement with its communities.
We believe that as an academic institution we have a responsibility to share our knowledge and skills with the wider community.
We are also conscious of the need to give something back to the community that supports the university and its work.
Community Service Projects
Staff contribute as individuals through accepting positions as directors, board members, secretaries, and treasurers of charitable and community organisations. Staff also apply their specialist knowledge to meet community needs.
Staff also conduct research, undertake benchmarking activities, participate in judging panels for professional awards, and present seminars and training sessions for community organisations and the general public.
Advice and expert opinion
Faculty staff provide specialist advice and expert opinion for a wide range of organisations. Examples include providing small business owners and managers with an understanding of the financial risks inherent in international trade transactions, and reporting on key issues for state and local government.
Student projects
Our focus on providing real world experiences for our students means they undertake a significant number of projects each year for private and public sector organisations - including many charitable, community, and nonprofit organisations.
